Allen Ling

Allen Ling

Allen Ling joins the less than 5% of Physical Therapists who are board certified in a specialty such as Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He is one of the first national instructors of Aquatic Physical Therapy, and also is certified in kinesiotaping, aquatic exercise instruction and WATSU.

Allen was also recently appointed as a member of the PTPN board of Directors. PTPN is the largest and oldest Physical Therapy network in the Country, with over 1000 offices and 3500 Physical Therapists.

Allen has completed long term residencies in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) from Kaiser Vallejo Rehab Center and Orofacial and TMD from the UCSF Center for Orofacial and Temporomandibular Dysfunction Center. Over the span of his career, Allen has taken over 175 courses, residencies, and workshops in Physical Therapy treatment and philosophy. He has also taken two dozen workshops and courses in marketing and business management. Allen has taught over 2 dozen workshops and courses across the country in Aquatic Physical Therapy, Sports Medicine, and ethical business development. He was appointed CPTA Ethics Investigator for Northern California, is a member of the CPTA Ethics Committee, and is on the CPTA subcommittee for continuing education course approval. Allen is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), a national professional organization of physical therapists, for over two decades.

Allen accepted a teaching position at Albany High School affiliated with the Contra Costa ROP program. He was an instructor for a Sports Medicine class as well as spent time treating the injured athletes at AHS.

Allen is a cancer survivor since 2005, and continues to mentor other physical therapists and PT students . He enjoys treating young children as well as being present for end stage cancer patients. Allen continues to evaluate and treat patients almost full-time; he also finds time to write articles and teach courses for clinicians. His approach on the use of weights versus buoyancy, “Weight and See the Results” was published in “Physical Therapy Products”, January/February 2004.

Allen’s other special interests include songwriting and music production with accomplished musicians www.Gen-7.net, infrequent hiking, weight lifting, & promoting “green” living by using solar power, converted biodiesel and hybrid vehicles for personal and commercial use. He has one of the only waste vegetable powered H1 Hummers in the world, which he wrecks every so often when off-roading.

He is a very involved father of two great young adults, and lives in Marin County with his wife.

Marshawn Jones

Marshawn De Mons
DPT, El Cerrito Clinic Manager

  • Graduated from Santa Clara University with a BA in Communications in 2001 and went on to graduate from Loma Linda University (LLU) with a DPT in Physical Therapy in 2007.

While a student at LLU, Marshawn was part of a team of five students who were awarded the student research award for Excellence in Research for a study that measured quality of life, health improvement (via blood tests results), and strength improvement for patients who exercised while on hemodialysis. Marshawn has also been a member of the East Bay Basketball Officials Association for 10 years and has officiated elementary, middle, and highschool games for 14 years.

Marshawn began coaching basketball for children a year ago and hopes to continue this form of volunteering in the future. Marshawn is currently the Clinic Manager in the El Cerrito office at PTI, over-seeing eleven clinicians throughout the week, as well as treating a full patient load daily. Marshawn will be working this year to advance her professional career by taking more con-ed and eventually in the near future an advanced certification program. Professional interests include the treatment of shoulders and hands.

Christine Allen

Christine integrates massage therapy, body conditioning, Pilates and creative solutions to help people recover from injury. Christine is a former professional ballet dancer has been a Physical Therapist since 2001. She is a full time parent and enjoys teaching her children about the value of nature, respect for others and having a positive outlook on life.


Donna Morton

Donna Morton

My whole-person based therapeutic approach integrates Western rehabilitation therapies such as orthopedic manual therapy, postural retraining, neuromuscular reeducation and therapeutic exercise, with Eastern healing arts including yoga, meditation, and Jin Shin Jyutsu. Whole-foods based nutrition is addressed as a critical foundation for healing, as well as optimal health. My goal is to support each individual, through integrative therapy, education and coaching, on a positive path toward healing and greater wellbeing.

In Han’s early career, he worked at Early Intervention Center of Children’s Hospital focusing on Pediatric Physical Therapy. During 2003 to 2007, Han was doing neurological disorders’ research while pursuing his Master degree, focusing on Stroke, Parkinson’s, and Spinal Cord injury rehabilitation. During 2009 to 2011, Han was working as Director of Physical Therapy at Conejos County Hospital in Colorado.

During his leisure time, Han likes to go running, hiking, and Kayaking. He also enjoys searching the rehabilitative journals to find out the most current evidence-based practice for his patients.

Jeff graduated from the University of California, Davis, in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Biology and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He plans on going to physical therapy school for his Doctorate of Physical Therapy, in the near future.

In his free time, Jeff loves being active playing football, basketball, golf, tennis, and snowboarding.

James Quinn

Prior to obtaining his license, James was Head Coach of Team Sports at St. Joseph’s Notre Dame High School in Alameda, and Director of Athletics for Concordia Argonaut in San Francisco. He has extensive experience in rehabilitation and work conditioning activities involving exercise instruction, neck care programs, back problems as well as the instruction of bio-mechanics and ergonomics. James’ hobbys are tennis and basketball.Working at PTI is a perfect fit for Emily; she is excited to be a part of the growth of Pilates in Physical Therapy, and is planning on pursuing further education in PT herself.

Julie Kane

Julie Kane
Certified Pilates Instructor

Julie Kane has been deeply involved – studying, performing and teaching movement since high school. A competitive gymnast at that time, she began instructing gymnastics for the City of Fremont. She went on to earn a BFA in Dance from the University of Utah and later returned, after a professional dance career, for an MFA with a focus in dance kinesiology (1999). In 2001 she received her Pilates certification with Mercy Sidbury of BodyWise Pilates. In addition to teaching at PTI, Julie is on faculty for Pilates and modern dance at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center in Berkeley, while she works towards a physical therapist assistant degree at Ohlone College.

Katie Crosby-Hogg

Katie Crosby-Hogg
Massage Therapist

Katie is a graduate of the nationally accredited National Holistic Institute College of Massage Therapy in Emeryville, CA. She has been working for Physical Therapy Innovations as a licensed massage therapist since February 2009. Her preferred methods of massage therapy include deep tissue, myofascial therapy and prenatal massage. Personal hobbys include: reading memoirs, yoga and taking her dog for a walk when the weather’s nice. If you have any questions for Katie, you can find her at the PTI El Cerrito Clinic on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Chris James joined the PTI team as a Certified Massage Therapist. He has been teaching/training Kung Fu for more than eight years. He has experienced many impact injuries, and applies his experiences to his CMT work.

In his spare time he enjoys reading science fiction books, volunteering in the acting field, and relaxing with good friends. Chris is proud to be a part of the PTI family.

Michel Rodriguez

Michel Rodriguez
Certified Massage Therapist, Certified Fitness Trainer

Michel Rodriguez was born in Havana, Cuba. He graduated from college with a degree in Physical Education and Sports Training for athletes.

“My favorite sport is baseball and I started playing it when I was eight years old. I went to school and went on to play baseball in college and as a professional till I was twenty-five years old. Unfortunately, due to a shoulder injury, my career was cut short.

In 2007, I came to United States, with a desire to learn and continue school. In 2009, I attended the National Personal Training Institute in San Francisco and got trained in sport massage at the McKinnon Massage Institute in Oakland. I am now a Certified Massage Therapist and Fitness trainer. I started working as a personal trainer in several fitness facilities through the Bay Area, along with doing therapeutic massage. I am also a Dance Fitness Instructor and I enjoy teaching fitness classes and workshops.”
