Pilates is an exercise technique devised by German-born Joseph Pilates. It is a conditioning program that improves muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength and tone. The basic principles of Pilates exercise are to make people aware of their bodies as single integrated units, to improve body alignment and breathing. The Pilates method does not require the repetition of exercises but instead consists of a sequence of carefully performed movements. Done on specifically designed equipment called the Pilates Reformer machine, Pilates is one of the most effective ways to help recover from an injury or prevent one. We differentiate ourselves from most other Pilates training because we offer it under the care of a trained physical therapist and Pilates instructor.
